GUITAR RIG

I m running Guitar Rig 5 on Windows 7 using the ASIO4ALL driver, but whenever the application is open it prevents other Windows applications from accessing the audio output. For example, if I have Guitar Rig open I can t play back an MP3 track. As soon as I close Guitar Rig other applications recover their audio capability.

I have tried disabling the exclusive control option for all of my Playback Devices in Windows then rebooting but it didn t help.

I have Realtek HD audio, and my Playback Devices are listed as:

Speakers - Behringer USB WDM Audio 2.8.40

Speakers Default Device - Realtek High Definition Audio

Realtek Digital Output

Realtek Digital Output Optical

Can anyone tell me how/if I can share audio between Guitar Rig/ASIO4ALL and other Windows applications.

I believe this is a typical limitation of Windows systems.

Definitely not a Windows limitation. It is more of a limitation with the ASIO4ALL Driver. I use a Focusrite Audio Interface which installs an ASIO driver AND a Windows compliant driver. I can use any ASIO application Cubase, Kontakt, Guitar Rig and listen to Windows Media Player and/or watch a video in Internet Explorer at the same time. The problem I believe is that ASIO4ALL takes over the Realtek device but has no Windows Compliant side.

Does anyone know if there s an alternative driver which I can use which supports the Behringer UCG102 USB interface. I was hoping not to buy new hardware.

Did you check the Behringer website, they should have a section for downloading drivers.

Yes I had already downloaded the latest USB Audio Driver from the Behringer website. This was also where I found and downloaded the ASIO4ALL driver.

Is the Behringer driver ASIO. If it is have you used it. Does it work. If its ASIO you would be limited to one audio source, that s an ASIO limitation, not a Windows limitation. Its designed that way to give better CPU management for audio not the most technical explanation. .

Do you know if the Behringer ASIO driver is limited to one audio OUTPUT as well as one source. i.e. is it designed to prevent Windows applications from using the speakers if the Guitar Rig software is playing through the speakers.

The ASIO4ALL installation actually overwrote the Behringer ASIO driver, so I d need to back that out to re-try the Behringer ASIO driver.
